New York: Indian badminton sensation Lakshya Sen put up a valiant fight against reigning All England champion Li Shi Feng of China in the US Open badminton tournament semifinals. Despite his best efforts, Lakshya succumbed to a three-game defeat against the second-seeded Feng in a thrilling encounter that lasted one hour and 16 minutes.

The match began with a closely contested opening game, with both players displaying their skills. However, Feng capitalized on Lakshya’s unforced errors to secure a lead and eventually win the game 21-17. Undeterred, Lakshya staged a remarkable comeback in the second game, engaging in an intense battle with his Chinese counterpart. The game reached a nail-biting 22-all before Lakshya seized two consecutive points, forcing a decider.
