LeT Terrorist Killed in Encounter in Kashmir’s Shopian

Srinagar: A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, Bilal Ahmed Bhat was killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday. According to the police, the slain terrorist was involved in the killing of an Army personnel and labourers.

Receiving information about the terrorist’s presence in Chotigam village of Shopian district, a cordon and search operation was launched in the early hours of Friday by security forces.

The hiding terrorist fired at the security personnel, which was retaliated.

The body of the slain terrorist was seized from the spot of the encounter. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition, including an AK series rifle, and three magazines were recovered from the spot.

Bhat was involved in several terrorist attacks including the killing of local Army personnel Umer Fayaz, and had hurled a grenade upon non-local labourers in Hermain, killing two labourers.

Bhat was also involved in the killing of Kashmiri Pandit Sunil Kumar Bhat in Shopian. He was involved in recruiting local youths into the terrorist outfit.
