License Requirement for Laptop Import Deferred till Nov 1

New Delhi: The Central Government on Friday decided to defer the licensing requirement for the import of laptops, tablets, and personal computers further till November 1, 2023.

On Thursday, the government announced that licensing would be mandatory to import laptops, tablets, and personal computers with immediate effect.

Its implementation has now been delayed to allow time for stakeholders to adapt to the new regulations.

As per the notification issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Friday, import consignments can be cleared till October 31, 2023, without a licence for restricted imports.

After November 1, a valid license for restricted imports would be required for the import of such items.
