Newborn Sold for Rs 2.5 lakh in Titlagarh

Bhubaneswar: The father of a 5-year-old newborn boy allegedly sold him off for Rs 2.5 lakh in Titlagarh of Balangir district.

According to reports, the parents of this newborn, Santosh and Pushpa Patel already had three children. Because of their dire poverty, they did not have the courage to bear the cost of looking after their fourth child.

It is alleged that through a middleman named Ramazan Saikh of Titlagarh, this poor couple sold off their infant boy to a person named Raja of Kalahandi district.

Receiving information about this child sell from a neighbour, local police filed case suo motto and traced out Ramzan.

As per reports, police have arrested Ramazan Saikh and the father of the sold-off child. A police team has also left for Kalahandi to rescue the sold off newborn baby.
