Fake Notes of Rs 1.36 Lakh Face Value Seized in Balangir, Two Arrested

Balangir: Fake currency notes of face value of Rs 1.36 lakh were seized by Balangir district police at Bhanisha village under the Patnagarh police station limits.

Two persons identified as Rohit Bastia and Varun Parwa, were arrested in connection with the seizure of counterfeit notes. A computer and printing materials used by them to print the fake notes were also seized. The seized fake notes were of Rs 500 denomination.

The misdeed of the arrested persons came to the fore when they handed over a few of them to the sankirtan artists at a local religious event on Wednesday. The singer recognized the counterfeit notes and informed the organizers. Patnagarh police station was also informed about the matter.

Acting on the tip-off, police conducted raids at the houses of the two accused persons and seized the fake notes.
