Class 10 Student Ends Life in School Hostel Due to Suspected Exam Stress

Balangir: A Class 10 student identified as Lipun Pradhan was found hanging in his hostel room at Kamakshi Nagar in Balangir on Monday night.

His body was recovered a few hours before the start of the annual High School Certificate or Matric examination on Tuesday. So, it is suspected that stress and mental pressure related to the board exams may be the reason behind his suicide.

The deceased hailed from Taliudar village in Balangir district and was a student of Vishwatma Vidya Mandir.

After finding him hanging in the hostel, the school authorities rushed him to a hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead.

The police have launched a probe into the matter.

Lipun’s family members blamed the school authorities for his death.

Over 5 lakh students appeared for the Class 10 or the matriculation examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) in Odisha that started from Tuesday.
