Three Killed in Fresh Violence in Manipur

Imphal: At least three persons of the Meitei community lost their lives in fresh incidents of violence in the Kwakta area of Manipur’s Bishnupur district late on Friday.

Several houses of the Kuki community were also torched. Heavy firing took place between the Kuki community and security forces in the Kwakta area of the Bishnupur district. In this incident of violence three from the Meitei community were killed, while several houses of the Kuki community were set on fire, informed Manipur police.

A Manipur commando suffered a serious head injury in the firing.

Ethnic violence broke out in Manipur on May 3, killing over 160 people since then and injuring hundreds.
