Man Takes Train Passengers Hostage in Switzerland, Killed in Police Raid

A man who took hostage a group of passengers in a train in Switzerland on Thursday night was killed during a police action initiated to free the hostages. The hostage crisis ended after almost 4 hours with the death of the suspect.

According to reports, the police managed to rescue the 15 hostages. These passengers were travelling from Yverdon to Sainte-Croix. They were earlier held hostage in Essert-Sous-Champvent, western Switzerland.

The hostage-taker was armed with an axe and a knife. As per reports he was talking in Farsi and English. He was shot dead by a police officer when he allegedly tried to attack him with the axe.

All hostages were rescued unhurt.
