Manipur Women Paraded Naked: Centre Orders Twitter, Other Social Media to Take Down Video

New Delhi: Centre on Thursday directed Twitter and other social media platforms to remove the video clip of two Manipuri women being paraded naked. The government said the video should be taken down as the matter is under investigation.

According to the sources, the government has issued an order to Twitter and other social media platforms, instructing them not to share the viral video of the two Manipuri women being paraded nude. It is imperative for social media platforms to adhere to Indian laws as the matter is currently under investigation.

The Centre opted for this order when a video of the ghastly incident went viral on social media triggering condemnation, shock and outrage.

This incident occurred on May 4 in Manipur’s Thoubal district. Police have registered a case of abduction, gangrape and murder in relation to the incident.
