Manipur Women Paraded Naked: Key Accused Arrested

New Delhi: A key accused seen in the two-month-old video of two women being paraded naked in Manipur was arrested on Thursday, reported India Today.

The accused, identified as Heradas (32), was tracked down from the Thoubal district. He was identified through the viral video clip.

Manipur police have registered a case of abduction, gang rape and murder in relation to the incident seen in the video clip. As many as 12 police teams are formed to arrest the accused.

According to the FIR lodged by police, on May 4, around 800 to 1,000 people carrying sophisticated weapons entered B. Phainom village and got involved in loot and arson. Five villagers, including three women, fled to the forest and were later rescued by the Nongpok Sekmai Police team. But the mob abducted them from police protection.

The mob killed a man and disrobed the three women. A 21-year-old victim was gang raped and when her brother, 19, tried to intervene, he was murdered.
