Maoist Dump Unearthed in Malkangiri; Gun, Gelatin Sticks, IEDs Seized

Malkangiri: During a joint operation, the personnel of the District Voluntary Force (DVF) of Odisha Police and Special Operation Group (SOG) commandos unearthed a major Maoist dump in Mlaknagiri district of Odisha near the Chhattisgarh border. The secret Maoist dump was located in a jungle between Tulsi and Kirmiti villages under the Mathili police station limits on Tuesday evening.

The articles seized from the Maoist dump included one country-made gun, 105 gelatin sticks, 12 metres of Codex wire, and a number of IEDs.

A press release of the Malkangiri police stated, “This is a major jolt to the subversive and anti-national design of Maoists in this area. “We suspect that the explosives along with other articles belong to the Maoist cadres of DKSZC and they were intended to be used against innocent civilians and security forces to carry out their subversive, anti-national activities and to show their presence again in this area. In the wake of recovery, further combing and search operations are going on in this area.”
