Los Angeles: Iconic “Friends” actor Matthew Perry, famous for his role as Chandler Bing, has passed away at 54. The news was confirmed by law enforcement sources and reported by TMZ, leaving the entertainment world in mourning.

According to TMZ, Perry was found lifeless at a Los Angeles-area residence, discovered in a jacuzzi with no drugs present at the scene. It is suspected that Perry may have drowned.

In response to the incident, the Los Angeles Police Department dispatched officers to Perry’s residence following a call about the death of a male in his 50s. However, the police had not confirmed the identity of the deceased at that time.

TMZ’s sources indicated that there is no evidence of foul play related to Perry’s death, with first responders responding to what appeared to be a case of cardiac arrest.

Born in Williamstown, Massachusetts, on August 19, 1969, Matthew Perry’s journey included both professional success and personal struggles. As a teenager, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams and secured several television guest roles, eventually leading to his major breakthrough when he joined the cast of “Friends” in 1994.

While achieving remarkable success in his career, Perry battled personal demons, particularly addiction. He sought treatment for substance abuse in 1997 and again in 2001. In a candid 2016 interview with BBC Radio 2, Perry revealed that he had no recollection of filming seasons 3 through 6 of “Friends.”

In a 2013 PEOPLE cover story, the actor openly discussed his history of alcohol and Vicodin abuse, which stemmed from a prescription following a 1997 jet ski accident. Perry later founded Perry House, a men’s sober living facility, in his former Malibu beach residence, taking a positive step in his life’s journey.
