Odisha Driver Crashes Bus To A Halt Before Dying Of Cardiac Arrest, Saves 48

Kandhamal: A bus driver in Odisha saved the lives of 48 passengers by crashing the bus into a wall. The driver, Sana Pradhan, was driving a private bus named ‘Maa Laxmi’ from Sarangarh to Bhubaneswar when he experienced severe chest pain. His quick thinking and presence of mind played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the 48 passengers onboard.

The incident occurred near Paburia village in Kandhamal district on Friday night, police said.

Realizing that he was unable to continue driving due to his deteriorating health, Pradhan made a critical decision. He intentionally steered the bus into a roadside wall, bringing it to a sudden stop. This act, while seemingly drastic, undoubtedly saved the lives of all passengers.

Tragically, after this heroic act, Sana Pradhan was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors, unfortunately, declared him dead due to a cardiac arrest. The bus continued its journey with a replacement driver at the helm, ensuring the passengers reached their destination safely.

The police, led by Inspector Kalyanamayee Sendha of Tikabali police station, have initiated an investigation. Pradhan’s body was later handed over to his family following a post-mortem examination.
