Hyderabad: Several new records were made when Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) locked horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Wednesday, March 27 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

After being put in to bat first, SRH scored 277 for 3 in 20 overs.

In their run-chase, MI managed to score 246 for 5 in their quota of 20 overs.

But this high scoring match saw several records broken. The new records made during this match included:

*The SRH vs MI clash witnessed the highest aggregate ever in a T20 game. The previous highest was 517 in the T20I between South Africa and West Indies back in March 2023 at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. It was also the 5th time that over 500 runs were scored in a T20 match.

* The SRH and MI game witnessed the highest aggregate in an IPL match. The previous highest was 469 during the game between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) back in April 2010 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

* MI set the record for the highest team total while batting second in the IPL. They broke the record of RR, who scored 226 in 19.3 overs against Kings XI Punjab, now Punjab Kings, back in September 2020 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

* MI recorded their highest total in the history of the IPL. They went past 235 for 9 that they scored against the Sunrisers back in October 2021 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

* The SRH vs MI saw 38 sixes being hit, the most in a T20 match. 37 sixes were hit 2 times earlier. In 2018, 37 sixes were recorded in the match between Balkh Legends and Kabul Zwanan in the Afghanistan Premier League.

37 sixes were also hit during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2019 match between Jamaica Tallawahs and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.

* The SRH vs MI game also saw the most sixes hit in an IPL match. 33 sixes were hit 3 times in an IPL match, all involving CSK, against RCB in 2023, against RR in 2020 and RCB in 2018.

Mumbai hit 20 sixes in their innings against SRH, their most in an IPL innings. They are second in the all-time IPL list after RCB’s 21 against Pune Warriors India back in 2013 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
