Nepal’s Political Party Adopts BJP’s Symbol and Ideology

Kathmandu: The Nepal Janata Party (NJP) has adopted the party symbol, saffron colour, and ideology of India’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Monica Verma, a geopolitics scholar, recently shared a tweet that hinted the influence of the BJP on Nepal’s NJP. A campaign poster featuring Anil Kumar Agrawal, who ran as a candidate in Nepal’s last Federal and provincial elections held in November 2022 is in saffron colour and shows lotus as the NJP’s election emblem. Below the lotus, the slogan reads ‘naye log, naye soch’ (new people, new thinking).

Tribhuvan Nath Pathak heads the NJP. He and his party want to reinstate Nepal as a Hindu Rashtra (Hindu nation). Khem Nath Acharya, the senior vice-president of the NJP, recently visited Delhi as part of a delegation meeting with BJP leaders, including Union ministers. He participates in events organized by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in India.

According to Acharya, RSS played a key role in the formation of the Nepal Janata Party.
