Bhubaneswar: An Odia jawan named Saroj Kumar Das is among the 22 army personnel still missing in the flash flood hit Sikkim.
Saroj hails from Kendudhipa Village under Kamakhyanagar block of Dhenkanal district. He was serving as a havildar in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) wing of the Indian Army.
Saroj had got married seven months back. He talked with his family on Tuesday night for the last time and informed them that it was raining heavily and he was stranded in an army van.
At least 14 persons died and 102 others including 22 army personnel are missing after a cloudburst over Lhonak Lake in north Sikkim triggered flash floods in the Teesta River on Wednesday.
