Odisha CM Announces Rs 10 Lakh Each for Odia Athlete Selected for Asian Games   

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced financial support of Rs 10 lakh for each of the state’s athletes who have qualified to participate in the upcoming Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games in China.

This financial assistance is meant for their training, preparation, and participation in the Asian Games.

The Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games in China will be held from September 23 to October 8 this year. A total of 13 athletes from Odisha have qualified for this mega sporting event of the continent.

These athletes include Kishore Jena in athletics; Anshika Bharati, Ritu Kaudi and Sonali Swain in rowing; Anupama Swain in ju-jitsu; Neha Devi Leichondam in kayaking and canoeing; Pyari Xaxa in football; Deep Grace Ekka and Amit Rohidas in hockey; and Dumuni Marndi, Tarulata Naik, Mama Naik and Hupi Majhi in rugby.

The CM conveyed his best wishes to them and hoped that they will showcase their talent at the Games and this incentive will empower them to focus solely on their training and performance.
