4 Children Among 5 Killed as Under-Construction Culvert Collapses in Odisha

Rayagada: An under-construction culvert collapsed in Uparsaja village in Odisha’s Rayagada district today, killing five people, most of whom were children. The incident occurred while they were bathing in the rainwater that had accumulated under the culvert.

Among the victims were four children, aged between 5 and 10 years old. The other victim was a 25-year-old woman. A rescue team, comprising fire service and police personnel, is diligently working to clear the debris. Authorities fear that additional people might be trapped under the rubble.

The rescue operation is underway and is expected to continue for several hours. The authorities have requested the help of heavy machinery to clear the debris.
