Odisha launches 3-Drug Therapy to Eliminate Filaria in 11 Districts

Bhubaneswar: To end the curse of filaria, the Odisha government launched a comprehensive strategy involving a three-drug therapy through mass drug administration across 11 districts.

The campaign was launched on Thursday in Angul, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Sundargarh, Jajpur, Ganjam, Dhenkanal, and Sambalpur.

Inhabitants of these districts will be administered a combination of Ivermectin, DEC, and Albendazole.

Trained drug administrators started the distribution of the three drugs through booths, educational institutions, and door-to-door visits.

Around 65,646 trained drug administrators are involved in the process. The goal is to ensure the successful consumption of the drugs among a population of 1.8 crore individuals.
