Odisha Police Inspector Fired After Vigilance Seizes Rs 37.27 Lakh Cash from His Possession

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday dismissed the Inspector in Charge of Boipariguda police station Susanta Kumar Satpathy from service following his arrest in a corruption case

Odisha police informed about the strict action against the “corrupt” police officer through a post on X.

Showing zero tolerance towards corruption, Odisha DGP dismissed Susanta Satpathy, the Inspector of Police, from the service under Article 311(2)(b) of the Indian Constitution after the Vigilance seized a huge amount of cash that was disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The vigilance officials had unearthed a total Rs 37,27,000 cash from his possession. Out of it, Rs 2,70,000 was seized from his from a bag with him, Rs 1,80,000 from his office chamber at Boipariguda Police Station in Koraput, Rs 3 lakh from his official quarter at Boipariguda, Rs 29.77 lakh from his official govt quarter at Buxi Bazar, Cuttack.

He was arrested by the Vigilance for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets.

Satpathy joined the Odisha Police as a Constable in 1999 under Bhubaneswar district Police. In 2008, he was selected through direct recruitment to become a Sub-Inspector of Police. In July 2023, he was promoted to the rank of Inspector.
