Palestine Flag Waved During Pak-Bangladesh Match, 4 Detained in Kolkata

Kolkata: Four persons were detained by Kolkata police on charges of waving the Palestinian flag during the Pakistan-Bangladesh World Cup cricket match at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday.

According to police sources, the detained persons waved the

Palestinian flag near the Gate 6 and Block G1 of the stadium, during the match.

But the persons with the Palestinian flag did not shout any slogans.

The four detained spectators of the match were from the Bally, Ekbalpore and Karaya areas. All of them were youths in their mid-twenties. By waving the Palestinian flag they were protesting against the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza. They chose the World Cup match to draw the attention of the general public towards the issue.

According to sources, all of them were let off after interrogation.
