3 Arrested for Faking Loot in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Three youths were arrested by personnel of Tamando police station in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday for faking a loot of Rs 3.33 lakh to con the police.

The accused were identified as Jayant Kumar Sahu, Nishikant Sahu and Raju Nayak. Jayant Kumar Sahu, who served as a collection agent of ITC company was the mastermind of this fake cash loot drama. Two bikes and Rs 14,000 in cash were seized from the possession of the arrested persons.

According to the police investigation, on Saturday, Jayant did not deposit Rs 3.33 lakh, which he had collected from various stores on behalf of the company, in the company’s account. He used the money for online gaming and lost over Rs 2 lakh. To hide his loss, Jayant with the help of Nishikant and Raju enacted a loot drama near a shopping mall.

Nishikant and Raju snatched the money bag from Jayant and fled from the spot. Later Jayant and his employer lodged a complaint with police regarding this so-called loot.

The whole incident was captured on CCTV camera. During interrogation and investigation, police officials ascertained that the so-called loot was nothing but an enactment. Jayant and the other accused confessed to their crime before the police and they were arrested.
