Odia Youth’s Body Found Hanging at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens

Kolkata: The body of Dhananjay Barik (21), the son of an Odia employee of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) was found hanging from the gallery of Block-K of Eden Gardens.

The deceased’s father and uncle are associated with Eden Gardens as groundsmen. Kolkata police have started an investigation to find whether it was a suicide case or there is some kind of foul play behind the mishap.

The deceased hailing from Odisha was in Kolkata with the hope to get employed as a groundsman at Eden Garden, like his father and uncle. He was living in the quarter provided to his father and uncle.

It is suspected that the youth was suffering from depression over lack of employment. According to his family members, the deceased was missing since Sunday afternoon, and filed a missing complaint late Sunday evening at the local Maidan Police Station.
