PM Modi Makes Aerial Survey of Landslides-Hit Wayanad

Wayanad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday made an aerial survey of landslide disaster-hit areas of Wayanad district.  Landslides have claimed hundreds of lives in this area.

PM Modi conducted an aerial survey of the landslide-ravaged Chooralmala, Mundakkai, and Punchirimattom hamlets aboard an Indian Air Force helicopter.

The PM was accompanied by Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Union Minister of State for Tourism and Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi.

After the aerial survey, the PM is to land at the SKMJ Higher Secondary School in Kalpetta and from there he will travel to landslides-hit areas by road.

The Kerala government has asked the Centre for Rs 2,000 crore in assistance for rehabilitation and relief work in the landslides-hit Wayanad district.

The landslides on July 30 have killed at least 226 people and several are still missing.
