Pramod Bhagat Clinches Gold at Japan Para-Badminton International 2023

New Delhi: Pramod Bhagat, India’s accomplished badminton player and multiple gold medallist at the Asian Games, continued his impressive performance by clinching the gold in the SL3 singles category at the recently concluded Hulic Daihatsu Japan Para-Badminton International 2023. Bhagat secured victory in straight sets against compatriot Manoj Sarkar.

The opening set saw Bhagat dominating with a swift 21-16 scoreline. Despite a strong comeback attempt by Manoj in the second set, Bhagat maintained control, securing the set 21-19. The match, lasting 38 minutes, concluded with a final score of 21-16 and 21-19 in Bhagat’s favour.

In mixed doubles, Bhagat and partner Manisha Ramdass faced a challenging 3-setter against the Chinese duo Yang Jianyuan and Yang Qiu Xia. Ultimately, the Chinese pair emerged victorious with a final score of 21-14, 15-21, and 21-16.

In other developments, Sukant Kadam secured a bronze medal in the SL4 singles category after a defeat in the semi-finals against Malaysia’s Mohd Amin Burhanuddin. Similarly, Tarun also secured a bronze in the SL4 singles category.
