Pune Farmer Becomes Crorepati in a Month by Selling Tomatoes

Pune: Because of the sudden extreme price rise of tomatoes all over the country, a tomato farmer in Maharashtra’s Pune district became crorepati in a month by selling his yield.

This farmer named Tukaram Bhagoji Gayakar and his family earned more than Rs 1.5 crore by selling 13,000 tomato crates in a month.

Tukaram grows tomatoes on 12 acres of land. The profits of this farmer are hinted from the fact that he earned Rs 18 lakh on Friday by selling 900 crates of tomatoes at Rs 2,100 per crate.

In June he sold tomato crates at prices ranging from Rs 1,000 to 2,400 per crate.

Like Tukaram, several farmers in Junnar in the Pune district have become millionaires. Their hard work of the past three months has paid off well because of the soaring price of tomatoes.

In Karnataka also some farmers have earned milliosn by selling their tomatoes. A family of farmers from Karnataka’s Kolar this week sold 2,000 boxes of tomatoes and earned Rs 38 lakh.
