Putin to Contest for Presidency Again in 2024

Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to contest again for the post of President of Russia in the 2024 election.

Speaking to soldiers who had served in the ongoing war in Ukraine, Putin confirmed his stance.

A Russian soldier, Artyom Zhoga, born in Soviet-era Ukraine who fights for Russia, asked Putin to contest for the Presidency again. Replying to him, Putin said, “I will run for the post of President. I will not hide that I have had different thoughts at different times, but it is now time to make a decision.”

Zhoga was on Friday honoured with Russia’s highest military honour, the Hero of Russia Gold Star by Putin.
