Rain Causes Landslide in Malkangiri Dist, 19 Villages Cut-off

Malkangiri: A landslide caused by the continuous torrential rains has cut-off 19 villages from the mainland in Malkangiri district. This landslide occurred at Bayapada ghat due to incessant rainfall.

According to reports, it has affected the life of over 3000 people in these villages who were using this ghat road for communication.

Because of the landslide, a large amount of stones and soil from the nearby hill crashed on the road, which was constructed two years back.

Low pressure-induced continuous rainfall is delaying the debris clearing and restoration work of the road. The water level in several rivers in Malkangiri district is also on the rise because of the heavy rainfall.
