Ravenshaw University to Have a Museum to Showcase Its History

Cuttack: Plans are on the anvil to set up a museum on the Ravenshaw University campus in Cuttack city to preserve and showcase memorabilia related to the glorious history of the institution.

The museum will provide insight into the history of the premier educational institute through old documents, rare photos, information regarding the visits of eminent personalities as well as memorable incidents on its campus during the freedom movement.

The decision to establish this museum was taken at a recent meeting of the Ravenshaw University Development Trust which was chaired by trust chairman Satyakam Mishra and was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of the university Sanjay Nayak, prominent alumni, and educationists of the state.

Preservation of books and documents at Kanika Library of Ravenshaw University was also discussed at this meeting and Rs 25 lakh was sanctioned for the development of the library.

Ravenshaw University, formerly known as Ravenshaw College, was founded in 1868 during the British era. It became an autonomous college in the 1990s and it was upgraded to a unitary university in 2006.
