Retired Police Officer Gets jail Sentence in Graft case

Bhubaneswar: The Court of Special Judge, Vigilance,  Dhenkanal on Monday convicted a retired Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Muralidhar Prusty for bribery and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for a period of 2 years.

The Court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on Prusty. In default of payment of fine, he will have to undergo further imprisonment for a period of 6 months.

Prusty was convicted in a bribery case that had happened when he was posted at Motanga police station in Dhenkanal district.

He had demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a complainant for releasing the truck seized in an accident case. According to vigilance officials, now they will approach concerned authorities to stop the pension of Prusty.
