Shubman Gill is 99% Fit For India vs Pakistan Match: Rohit Sharma

Ahmedabad: India captain Rohit Sharma confirmed in a pre-match press conference today that young opener Shubman Gill is on the verge of making his ODI World Cup debut in the 2023 World Cup clash against Pakistan on October 14. Gill, who had been recovering from dengue fever, is now 99 percent available for the crucial match, Rohit said.

Gill had missed India’s first two World Cup matches against Australia and Afghanistan due to his illness, with Ishan Kishan stepping in as his replacement alongside Captain Rohit Sharma as India’s second opening batter.

Notably, Gill did not travel to Delhi with the Indian squad for their match against Afghanistan. Instead, he flew directly to Ahmedabad to join his teammates.

In preparation for his potential comeback, Gill is expected to participate in a full-fledged practice session with the Indian cricket team today. The team management will subsequently make a decision on his inclusion in the lineup, marking his debut in the World Cup 2023.
