Sahid Nagar ASI caught Red handed While Accepting Rs 15k Bribe

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials nabbed Mamata Bastia, ASI of Saheed Nagar police station in Bhubaneswar while she was accepting Rs 15,000 bribe from a woman on Thursday.

According to vigilance sources, the erring police ASI had demanded this bribe from the complainant to help her in a case, in which the accused was an Investigating Officer.

Sleuths of the anti-corruption trapped the ASI red-handed while she was accepting the marked-up bribe money. The total bribe money was recovered from her possession and seized.

The vigilance department conducted simultaneous house searches at two locations related to the ASI to unearth disproportionate assets.

An investigation is underway against accused ASI Mamata Bastia.
