Sanyasi Falls Prey to Crocodile Attack in Kendrapara

Kendrapara: A sexagenarian sanyasi, Baba Amulya Das was killed by a crocodile near Kulasahi village on the banks of Brahmani river on Friday.

He was dragged away into the river by a crocodile while he was at the river bank to defecate.

After an intense search of over 17 hours by the locals as well as fire and forest department officials, Amulya’s dismembered head was located floating in the river. Later his mutilated body was also found.

The body and head of the deceased were seized by the Pattamundai police for autopsy. The forest department officials opined that Amulya was killed in a crocodile attack.

Crocodile attacks happen regularly in Kendrapara’s Pattamundai, Kendrapada, Rajnagar, Aul, and Rajkanika blocks. During last one and a half months, four people including a woman and a minor boy have been killed by crocodiles.
