Two Trains Collide in Indonesia, 3 Dead, 28 Injured

Three persons died and at least 28 others were injured when two trains collided on Java island in Indonesia on Friday.

The collision occurred at 6:03 am local time in Cicalengka in West Java province. The inter-city Turangga train running from from Surabaya in East Java to Bandung city hit a local train.

Several train compartments were overturned because of the collision.

There were 287 passengers on the Turangga train, while 191 people were aboard the local commuter train.

One of the deceased was the steward of the Turangga train. The other two have not been identified, informed the rail operator PT KAI.

The injured were admitted to a local hospital.
