Pune: Virat Kohli slammed a masterful century to guide India to a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the ICC World Cup match on Thursday. Shubman Gill also made a noteworthy contribution with a half-century (53), and captain Rohit Sharma played a crucial role by adding 48 runs to seal India’s triumph.

Batting first, Bangladesh posted a total of 256 for eight, with Litton Das (66 off 82 balls) and Tanzid Hasan (51 off 43 balls) putting on a 93-run opening partnership. However, Bangladesh lost four wickets for just 36 runs after their solid start, and it was up to Mushfiqur Rahim (38) and Mahmudullah Riyadh (46 off 36 balls) to provide some stability.

India’s bowling attack was led by Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah, who claimed two wickets each. Hardik Pandya had to leave the field due to an ankle injury sustained while bowling.

In reply, India got off to a flying start with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill putting on 88 runs for the first wicket. Rohit was dismissed for 48, but Kohli and Gill continued to build the innings.
