The tiger is said to have strayed from the tiger reserve in Pilibhit district on Monday night. Stray dogs barked and alerted the villagers about the tiger resting on the wall of a house at the village.
Hundreds of locals gathered up to keep watch on the stray big cat.
Videos of the tiger were taken this morning amidst a huge crowd gathered on rooftops and all around.
The area around the animal was barricaded using nets so no one could reach the tiger. The tiger didn’t budge from the spot even after it woke up in the morning. But it did not attack any humans.
Forest officials are making efforts to tranquilise the tiger so that it can be shifted to the Pilbhit tiger reserve, which was established in 2015. Five people have died in four months in tiger attacks in the Pilbhit district.
