Woman Dies, Several Hospitalized After Eating ‘Prasad’ at Karnataka Temple

Bengaluru: A woman died and 70 others were hospitalised because of suspected food poisoning in Hoskote in Bengaluru Rural limits.

According to police sources, it is suspected that all of them developed symptoms of food poisoning after eating ‘prasad’ at a temple in the Hoskote area.

Initial investigation hints that most affected people visited a temple in Hoskote town on Saturday and ate the ‘prasad’. On Sunday, they complained symptoms of dysentery and vomiting. They were admitted to hospitals for treatment.

A woman, admitted to a hospital with same symptoms died on Monday morning.

Around 70 people have been admitted to different hospitals. Patients allege that the prasad they ate at the temple on Saturday could be the cause of their food poisoning. But there are some who have developed same symptoms without eating the ‘prasad’.
