Woman Kills 3-Day-Old Daughter in Jajpur on International Day of Girl Child

Jajpur: A woman allegedly throttled her three-day-old daughter to death at a slum under Tamka police station in Jajpur district on Wednesday. Her tragic act occurred on a day when the world is celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child.

As per reports, this woman lived along with her husband Rabindra Mahanta at a slum near Champajhar Park.

She killed her newborn as the couple was frustrated because of the birth of a second daughter.

Police have arrested the accused woman and initiated a detailed investigation.

In another incident, an abandoned newborn girl child was rescued from a bush at Muktidhipa village under Bhasma police station under Sundargarh district on Wednesday.

Locals managed to trace her mother and handed her over to police along with the rescued child.
