2000 Year Old Make-Up Shop Discovered in Turkey

Remains of a 2,000-year-old make-up shop were discovered by archaeologists in Turkey’s ancient city of Aizonoi, reported BBC.

Aizonoi was an important political and economic centre during the Roman era.

The artefacts found in this two-millennium-old make-up shop are perfume containers and remains of make-up, including eyeshadows and blush. Most probably these cosmetics were used by Roman women over two thousand years ago.

The archaeological team also unearthed a shop within the city, which reportedly sold jewellery and cosmetic products. Various beads for necklaces and hairpins were also found within the premises.

The predominant hues of the ancient make-up items identified included an array of reds and pinks.
