New Delhi: To maintain adequate rice stock in the country and check price rise, the government has imposed a 20 per cent export duty on the export of parboiled rice.
This hiked export duty imposed on August 25, will continue till October 16, 2023, stated a Finance Ministry notification.
India has now imposed restrictions on the export of all varieties of non-basmati rice. Around 25 per cent of total rice exported from India is non-basmati white rice.
A month back, the government banned exports of non-basmati white rice to boost domestic supply and keep retail prices of rice in check in the country.
