3 Rapists of Minor Girl Get 20-Yr Jail In Jajpur District

Jajpur: Three persons were convicted and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for 20 years by a court in Jajpur district for the kidnap and rape of a minor girl in 2020.

The court of the additional district and sessions Judge, Jajpur awarded 20-year jail term to Bhagaban Maharana of Keonjhar as well as Punam Agarwal and Nirakar Panigrahi.

The court also imposed Rs 3000 fine on each convict. If they fail to pay the fine, then they will have to undergo additional jail term for six months.

The court directed the Jajpur district legal services authority to hand over a compensation of Rs 7 Lakh to the rape survivor.

The three convicts had abducted and raped a 16-year-old girl in Sukinda area of Jajpur district in 2020. The court took into account the statements of 20 witnesses and other evidence to pass on the verdict.
