4 Cops Among 5 Arrested Over Rifles Stolen from BJP MLA’s Farmhouse in Manipur

Imphal: Five persons including four police personnel were arrested in connection with the theft of rifles from Manipur BJP MLA Kh Joykishan Singh from his farmhouse.

This theft of rifles occurred on Tuesday night. Some miscreants broke into the farmhouse of Singh, the Thangmeiband MLA, overpowered three village defence force personnel guarding the farmhouse in Sekmai Leikinthabi.

They took away three rifles with four loaded magazines containing 80 rounds of ammunition.

The police managed to identify and arrest the five persons involved in the theft of rifles on Wednesday. The stolen arms and ammunition were seized from them.

The arrested persons included four police personne- Meisnam Krishnadas (57), Maibam Shanjit Singh (34), Longjam Jayenta Singh (52) and Oinam Banti Singh (30). The fifth accused, Mainam Bomcha (45) was the caretaker of the MLA’s farmhouse, from where the arms were stolen.
