5 Men Abduct and Rape Woman, Two Accused Injured in Police Encounter

New Delhi: A group of five men were arrested in connection to the abduction and gang rape of a woman in her 20s while she and her friend were travelling on a scooty on a deserted road in Ghaziabad.

Two of the accused were injured during a police encounter.

This gang rape incident took place on November 30. The prime accused in the case, Junaid, called his friend, Imran, and three of his associates to abduct the girl. They overpowered the girl and dragged her to the bushes where they gang raped her.

Their attempt to rape the victim’s friend was foiled as a vehicle passed by the area, prompting the men to flee.

Following a complaint lodged by the victim, police managed to arrest Junaid, who was shot in both legs during an encounter with the police. Later, police cornered Imran and his three associates. When they tried to escape by firing at the police, police personnel retaliated and during the exchange of fire, Imran was shot in the leg.

After the encounter, Imran and his three aides were taken into police custody. A pistol and cartridges were recovered from the spot.
