5-Yr-Old US Boy Dies by Shooting Himself While Playing With Real Gun of Parents’ 

A 5-year-old boy died in Utah of the US when he accidentally shot himself with a gun he found while playing in his parents’ bedroom on August 22

The deceased child, Brooks Thomas Wilson discovered a loaded 9mm pistol in a drawer of his parents’ bedroom. When he started playing with it, the gun discharged and a bullet pierced his head, reported the New York Post reported.

His parents, Bryan and Kristin Wilson were at home at the time of the mishap. They rushed to the room after hearing the gunshot. But Brooks died from his injuries.

Santaquin Police Department remarked that the shooting appeared to be accidental and no foul play was suspected.

The boy’s family released a statement and described the incident as “an unimaginable tragedy.”

Utah law does not require prosecution for people who leave unattended weapons accessible to minors, and also does not require weapons to be secured, according to the Giffords Law Center.
