80-Yr-Old Man Gets Life Sentence in 49-Yr-Old Murder Case

Lucknow: A court in Firozabad of Uttar Pradesh sentenced an 80-year-old man to life imprisonment in a murder case registered 49 years back. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict named Mahendra Singh.

This murder was committed on September 14, 1974. As per the chargesheet, Meera Devi, a resident of the district, had on September 14, 1974, filed a complaint, accusing that Mahendra Singh had shot her mother dead at Narkhi.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Jitendra Gupta on Thursday sentenced Mahendra to life imprisonment and said that in case of non-payment of the fine, the convict would have to spend an additional year in jail.
