Boyfriend Kills Nursing Student, Posts Image of Her Body as WhatsApp Status

Chennai: A 20-year-old nursing student named Fousia was killed by her boyfriend Ashiq at a hotel in Chennai’s Chromepet. Ashiq posted a photo of Fousia’s corpse as his WhatsApp status, prompting mutual friends to alert the police.

Investigation by police ultimately led to unearthing of the body at the hotel. Police also arrested Ashiq at a nearby restaurant.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had quarrelled after checking into the hotel as Fousia questioned Ashiq about his relations with another woman.

In a fit of rage, Ashiq allegedly strangled Fousia to death and then uploaded a photo of her lifeless body as his WhatsApp status.

According to police sources, the couple was in a relationship for the past five years. They had secretly married and also had a child, who was given up for adoption.

Around two years back Fousia discovered Ashiq’s involvement with multiple other women and lodged a complaint against him with the Kerala police. Ashiq was arrested under the POCSO Act and was jailed. After release, Ashiq apologised and the couple reconciled.

Fousia was a second-year nursing student at a college in Chromepet. She was staying in a hostel.
