College Student Hacks Elderly Aunt to Death in Mayurbhanj Dist

Baripada: A college student hacked his 64-year-old paternal aunt to death on Wednesday over a minor altercation at

Dahikoti village under the Betanati police station limits in the Mayurbhanj district.

The deceased identified as Charulata Mishra (64) was hacked to death with a sharp weapon by the accused identified as Tanmay Kumar Mishra alias Kanduru.

Kanduru had an altercation with his aunt Charulata over some trivial matter. In a rage, he hacked Charulata with a sharp weapon. Hearing the scream of the woman, neighbours rushed to the spot and overpowered Kanduru. He was later handed over to the police. The woman died on the spot.

Betanati police have registered a murder case and seized the body for postmortem.
