Drunk Thai Groom Shoots Bride, 3 Others Dead Before Killing Himself On Wedding Day

Bangkok: A joyous wedding celebration in north-east Thailand turned into a horrific tragedy as the groom, a former soldier and para-athlete, shot and killed his bride, mother, and sister before turning the gun on himself. The incident left two others injured, one of whom succumbed to their wounds at the hospital.

Chaturong Suksuk, 29, and Kanchana Pachunthuek, 44, were celebrating their wedding with family and friends when the groom abruptly left the party. He returned armed with a legally purchased gun and opened fire, killing his bride, 62-year-old mother, and 38-year-old sister. Stray bullets also struck two guests, one of whom later died in the hospital.

Suksuk, a decorated para-athlete who had lost his right leg while serving in the military, was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the incident. Police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting but have not ruled out speculation that Suksuk may have been insecure about the age gap between himself and his bride.

The couple had been living together for three years before tying the knot. Suksuk, who had won a silver medal in swimming at the Asean Para Games in Indonesia last year, was also set to compete in the World Abilitysport Games in Thailand in December.

The tragic incident has left the community reeling in shock, and police are working diligently to piece together the events that led to this devastating outcome.
