Deepfake Video of Rashmika Mandanna Goes Viral, Amitabh Bachchan Demands Strict Legal Action

Mumbai: A deepfake video of actress Rashmika Mandanna has gone viral on social media. This is an altered old video of Zara Patel.

In the viral video, a woman with Rashmika’s face was seen entering a lift wearing a black swimsuit. Later it was ascertained that it was a deepfake video clip. Several cyber experts demanded the need for a legal and regulatory framework to deal with deepfakes in India.

Deepfakes use a form of artificial intelligence called deep learning to make images of fake events. Deepfakes transform existing source content by swapping one person’s face with another.

In the recent deepfake, Mandanna’s face is swapped with a British-Indian woman Zara Patel.

Actor Amitabh Bachchan in response to a post on X, demanded legal action over the reported morphed video of his ‘Goodbye’ co-star Rashmika Mandanna saying, “Yes this is a strong case.”
