2 Youths Duped Of ₹27 Lakh In Fake Currency Racket, 2 Fraudsters Arrested in Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: In a recent incident under Baidyanathpur police limits in Ganjam district, Odisha, two local youths, Badrinath Panda and Akshaya Nayak, were arrested for allegedly duping two victims, Sachin Mohapatra and Surya Narayan Patra, with counterfeit currency.

According to the police, the fraudsters promised to deliver Rs 10 lakh in genuine currency notes to the victims in exchange for Rs 9 lakh in legal tenders. However, after receiving approximately Rs 27 lakh from the victims, they handed them counterfeit currencies amounting to Rs 30 lakh.

Upon realizing the fraud, the victims filed a complaint with the Baidyanathpur police, who immediately arrested Panda, Nayak, and three others involved in the racket. A thorough investigation has been initiated into the matter.

Authorities suspect that the fake currency racket may have connections to other fraudsters operating outside Odisha, and a comprehensive inquiry is underway to ascertain the full extent of the scam.
